In what ways does being rescued change Syrita's
Otrada [13]

In <em>Nicola Yoon's "Super Human,"</em> Syrita realizes after her rescue that "it's not a crime to be poor."

She has now become less frivolous. Before X, the black Superhero rescued her from a terrible accident at the Museum in LA, Syrita regarded herself and everybody else as rich. She was totally "<em>frivolous and untouchable.</em>" But Syrita can now <em>volunteer to serve others.</em>

The change in Syrita's attitude occurred because she realized that <em>life on earth could be short. </em>But for the rescue by X, she would be living in the afterlife.

Thus, Syrita's approach to life changes because the rescue humbles her.  She can now relate with people she regarded as inferior and even visits a poor neighborhood she had always disdained in the past.
