Let the cost of each loaf of bread = $'x'

So, the cost of 2 loaves of bread = $2 \times x$ = $2x

Since, Barbara gives $10 note and receives a change of $1.60.

Therefore, she pays $10 - 1.60 = 8.4$ for the given items.

Therefore, $3.6+1.8+2x = 8.4$

$5.4+2x = 8.4$

$2x = 8.4-5.4$

$2x = 3.0$

So, x = 1.5

Therefore, the cost of each loaf of bread is $1.50 not $1.40.
