Solve each equation for x<br> 4(x + 4) + 2x= 52
Alex73 [517]

Answer:

x=6

Step-by-step explanation:

4(x + 4) + 2x= 52

We solve the bracket first by multiplying x+4 by 4

4x+16+2x=52

Collect like terms

4x+2x+16=52

6x+16=52

6x=52-16

6x=36

Divide both sides by 6

6x/6=36/6

x=36/6

x=6

To check for accuracy. We subsitute x for 6 in the equation and both sides of the equation must be equal

4(x + 4) + 2x= 52

4(6+4)+2(6)=62

4(10)+2(6)=52

40+12=52

52=52

Part 1.
A. x=0 can be used for function that have x≤1, so f(x) =x²
B.You need substitute x by 0. x=0,
then

f(0) = 1) x² =0² =0      x≤1

Part 2.
A. f(x) =x², Graph is attached.
B. f(x) =2x+1, Graph is attached.
C. The functions will change in the point x=1
For f(x) =x² , x ≤1 ; f(1) = 1. The point (1,1) is included, the dot should be filled (closed).
For the function f(x)=2x+1, x>1. The point  f(1)=3 is not included, the dot should be empty(open).
D. Point(1,1) is closed(filled circle), point (1,3) is open(empty circle).
