A regular school week lasted 5 days, Monday to Saturday, <u>school day being half a day on Thursday.</u>

3. Schools provided wood for the fireplaces - false

<u>Children's families had to provide wood</u> for the fireplaces in the schools.

4. Teachers could whip a student if they misbehaved or made mistakes. - true

Teachers or tutors often had a lot of power over students and <u>they could punish them through physical punishment without any consequences. The rules were very strict</u> and children were not allowed to move around too much. Punishment was considered effective in correcting children's behaviors.
