HELP Which is the equation of a hyperbola with directrices at y = ±2 and foci at (0, 6) and (0, −6)?

Answer:

\frac{x^{2}}{7.198}-\frac{y^{2}}{28.794} = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of the directrices are:

y = \pm 2 \cdot x

A relationship between the hyperbola constants is derived from the absolute value of the slope of the directrix:

\frac{b}{a} = 2

The location of the foci indicates that hyperbola is vertical and centered at origin. The distance between foci is equal to 2\cdot c. Then, the vertical parameter is:

2\cdot c = 12

c = 6

One of the hyperbola coefficients is determined with the help of the Pythagorean Theorem:

c = \sqrt{a^{2}+b^{2}}

c = \sqrt{a^{2}+4\cdot a^{2}}

c = \sqrt{5\cdot a^{2}}

c = \sqrt{5}\cdot a

a = \frac{\sqrt{5}\cdot c}{5}

a \approx 2.683

The remaining parameter is found by means of the relationship described previously:

b = 2\cdot a

b = 5.366

Lastly, the equation of the hyperbola in standard form is:

\frac{x^{2}}{7.198}-\frac{y^{2}}{28.794} = 1

Varvara68 [4.7K]

Luci cuts a board that is 3/4 yard long into pieces that are 3/8. The pieces she cut can be solve by dividing the board by length of the new board. The length of the ¾ yards long divided by the desired length of 3/8 yards which is equal to 2 pieces.

Answer:

1. x = 2

2. x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 6 - 4x = 6x -8x + 2

  6 - 4x = -2x + 2

  +4x    +4x

  6 = 2x + 2

  -2         -2

  4 = 2x

  /2    /2

   2 = x

2.

6 - 6x = 5x -9x -2

6 - 6x = -4x -2

  +6x     +6x

6 = 2x -2

+2       +2

8 = 2x

/2    /2

4 = x

∫(x+1)/(x2+2)2x−3dx need help with this question. can you show the process
kenny6666 [7]

do you need to include the wiggle infront of the first bracket? if not;

(x+1) ÷ [(x^2+2) x (2x-3dx)]

x^2 x 2x = 2x^3

x^2 x -3dx = -3dx^3

2 x 2x = 4x

2 x -3dx = - 6dx

i cant find a way to make it equal 0 so i think the answer is just

x+1 over 2x^3 - 3dx^3 + 4x - 6dx as a fraction

Casey orders 3 pizzas and 2 orders of breadsticks for a total of $29.50. Rachel orders 2 pizzas and 3 orders of breadsticks for
saveliy_v [14]

The cost of one pizza is $8.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

Cost of one pizza = x

Cost of one bread stick = y

According to given statement;

3x+2y=29.50    Eqn 1

2x+3y=23          Eqn 2

Multiplying Eqn 1 by 2

2(3x+2y=29.50)\\6x+4y=59\ \ \ Eqn\ 3

Multiplying Eqn 2 by 3

3(2x+3y=23)\\6x+9y=69\ \ \ Eqn\ 4

Subtracting Eqn 3 from Eqn 4

(6x+9y)-(6x+4y)=69-59\\6x+9y-6x-4y=10\\5y=10

Dividing both sides by 5

\frac{5y}{5}=\frac{10}{5}\\y=2

Putting y=2 in Eqn 1

3x+2(2)=29.50\\3x+4=29.50\\3x=29.50-4\\3x=25.5

Dividing both sides by 3

\frac{3x}{3}=\frac{25.5}{3}\\x=8.5

The cost of one pizza is $8.5
