The first instance of foreshadowing is when Romeo says, "I dreamt my lady came and found me dead--". At the end of the play Juliet wakes up and finds Romeo dead in the tomb next to her.
Romeo states, "then I defy you, stars!" This refers to fate or destiny as many believed that their fate was written in the stars, determined by God. When Romeo says he defies stars he wants to go against fate and take his own life.
Romeo also states, "Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee to-night." His statement does not just mean that he will go visit her in the tomb. He is stating that he will lie with her in death for eternity.

The transition word that would work best is Neither. Neither action guaranteed their safety.

Previous to the sentence was two items being compared. Also, the word “neither” is the only word that would make the sentence make sense. This leads to “neither” being the best option.
