Carla wants to know how many students in her school enjoy watching reality TV shows. She asks all 22 students in her science cla

ss and finds that 40% of her classmates enjoy watching reality TV shows. She claims that 40% of the school's student population would be expected to enjoy watching reality TV shows. Is Carla making a valid inference about her population?
No, it is not a valid inference because her classmates do not make up a random sample of the students in the school

No, it is not a valid inference because she asked all 22 students in her science class instead of taking a sample of the students in her school

Yes, it is a valid inference because she asked all 22 students in her science class

Yes, it is a valid inference because her classmates make up a random sample of the students in the school

I believe that it's no, it is not a valid inference because her classmates do not make up a random sample of the students in the school. But I can't be sure, I really haven't done much on inferences, especially in math. I know for sure that her inference is incorrect though. Hope this helps, even a bit!

You spent $175 on a pair of shoes and three shirts. Each shirt cost the same amount. The shoes cost four times the amount of one
sergey [27]

Step-by-step explanation:

1. making the equation:

shoes = x

shirts = y

175 = x + 3y

x = 4y

2. graph it (I'm using desmos)

the green line is for 175 = x + 3y and the purple one is for x = 4y

3. find the price

x = 4y

175 = 4y + 3y

175 = 7y

y = 175/7 = $25

price of the shirt = $25

x = 4y = 4*25 = $100

price of a pair of shoes = $100

Which statement explains how the lines 2x + y = 4 and y = one halfx + 4 are related?
KatRina [158]

Answer:

They are perpendicular

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem .

we will convert the equations in slope intercept form.

Slope intercept form of equation is y = mx+c

where m is slope of line and c is y intercept.

________________________________

equation 1 is

2x+y = 4

=> y =4 - 2x or y = -2x + 4

comparing it with y = mx + c

m = -2  , c = 4

_________________________________________

equation 2 is y = one halfx + 4 ( one half is same as 1/2)

so equation is

y = x/2 +4

comparing it with y = mx + c

m = 1/2  , c = 4

_________________________________________

Now lets evaluate options

They are parallel.  wrong option

For lines to be parallel slope should be same.

But here slope are different -2 and 1/2 .

Thus lines are not parallel.

__________________________________________

They are perpendicular.  correct option

For lines to be perpendicular, product of slope should be equal to -1.

-2*1/2 = -1

we can see that product of slope should be equal to -1 .

Thus lines are  perpendicular

______________________________________

They are the same line. wrong option

For lines to be same both slope and y intercept should be same.

Y intercept is same but the slopes are different -2 and 1/2 .

Thus lines are not the same line.

__________________________________________

They are not related. wrong option

As we have found that the lines are perpendicular .

So this option is intuitively wrong

The line plot below shows the weight of each of 15 ostrich eggs . What is the total weight of the 3 heaviest eggs
erica [24]

Answer:

D). 6 3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The three eggs with the heaviest weights are;

2\frac{1}{2} ounces

2\frac{1}{4} ounces, &

2 ounces

To find,

The total weight of the three heaviest eggs = 2\frac{1}{2} ounces + 2\frac{1}{4} ounces + 2 ounces

= 5/2 + 9/4 + 2/1

Taking the L.C.M. of 2, 4, and 1,

= 10/4 + 9/4 + 8/4

= (10 + 9 + 8)/4

= 27/4 or 6 3/4

One alloy is 2 parts iron to 3 parts silver and another alloy is 7 parts iron to 3 parts silver. How much of each should be comb
Shalnov [3]
Let x be your first alloy
2/5x+7/10(30-x)=1/2(30)
4x+210-7x=150
3x=60
x=20
So, you need 20 lbs of the first alloy, and 10 parts of the second to make 30 lbs of half iron and half silver alloy!
