Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

False.

Explanation:

The only proposal which Congress failed to enact during John F. Kennedy's New Frontier domestic program was medical insurance for the elderly that later would become known as Medicare. As regards federal aid to education and anti-poverty initiatives, there was a big amount of legislation which was successfully passed in the Congress. Why was the wilmot proviso divisive to congress ?
Katen [24]
a. Southern congressmen opposed the banning of slavery from the new territories

Northern states and southern states were at odds over the potential spread of slavery in new states and what that would do to the balance of power in Congress.
In 1846, Congressman David Wilmot of Pennsylvania introduced the proviso as an amendment to an appropriations bill in connection with the peace treaty being negotiated with Mexico. His amendment stipulated that any territory gained from Mexico would be free, not allowing slavery. Wilmot's amendment passed in the House of Representatives, but was unable to get approval in the Senate. The Compromise of 1850, a package of five bills passed by Congress in September of that year, sought to accommodate some of the issues both South and North were debating over during those years. But we know that war over the slavery issue was yet to come.

Why was it wrong for the air traffic controllers to go on strike during the Reagan administration? They did not need higher wage
AleksAgata [21]
Back in 1981, for those of you who remember, August 5 was the day that then-president Ronald Reagan fired more than 11,000 striking air traffic controllers. The air traffic controllers were fired two days after their union, PATCO, declared a strike. They were demanding a pay raise, a shorter workweek, and better working conditions. It was a move that some historians say laid the groundwork for today's assault on labor. Hope that helps, but if not visit this ∨
