American imperialism and its emergence as a world power

Explanation:

• American imperialism refers to the United States’ influence of economic, socio-cultural, and military aspects internationally.
• The rise of American imperialism during the 19th century empowered the United States to expand its territorial boundaries to other countries and take control over them.
• American Exceptionalism, which also rose during the same period, created the idea of uniqueness about the US and a feeling that it is different from other countries because it began to spread the idea of democracy and liberty.
• American imperialism began its root with the Hawaii annexation in 1898 which gave complete possession and control over the Hawaiian Islands including all its government public properties, ports, military warfare, etc.
• The possession of the Hawaiian Islands led to the beginning of the American Empire which began to spread its wings over countries like Philippines, Korea, Cuba, Japan, Austria and many more. The US pushed its socio-political and economic powers over these countries.
• This increasing empowerment through American imperialism led the United States to emerge as a World Power .
