Whats the difference between high-use academic words and key terms?
Harlamova29_29 [7]
Key terms are typically words that will come up a lot in a unit or a text. It’s more like a vocabulary related specifically to whatever it is you’re doing. High-use academic words, however, are words that are used a lot in a general academic setting, like a university or an academic journal.

When writing a paper, having a strong thesis statement is crucial. If the thesis statement is weak, the writer will have a hard
yaroslaw [1]

2 and 4 are both strong. It is clear what is going to be discussed especially on 4. Two is very intreging. It would be nice to see how that will develop. By that it would be interesting to see how those two ideas will be tired together.

One is too vague. It's true, but where are you going with that? Some indication has to be given.

Three has the same problem. Bad? What does bad mean? I may be wrong, but I think a thesis statement, if at all possible, should use concrete nouns. There should be no doubt about where this is going.

This is just an example of what I mean

Throughout history, every time a new technology was developed, it was immediately used in war. I think both 2 and 4 do something like that.

Answer

1 weak

2 strong

3 weak

4 strong

Explain the use of irony when Gulliver is explaining what a cannon is to the king.
natita [175]

Answer:

Gulliver begins to gain the trust of Lilliputians over time, but it is unnecessary: Gulliver could crush them simply by walking carelessly. Despite the evidence in front of them, they never recognize their own insignificance. This is clearly the use of dramatic irony in which the reader knows the truth but the characters in the stories deny it.
