Cattle breeding was invented much earlier than writing. Also, many cultures developed cattle breeding without ever developing a system of writing.

Cattle were domesticated around 10,500 years ago in central Anatolia, the Levant and Western Iran. Writing, however, is mostly considered to have been developed around the 4th millennium BC with the Sumerian archaic cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs.
