Phoenicians were a Canaanite subgroup of the Semitic languages, and the closest language to it still in existence is Hebrew, which is very similar, followed by Aramaic and Arabic. The region where the Phoenician was spoken includes the current countries of Lebanon, the Syrian coast and northern Israel.

Phoenicians and Israelites have some similarities like the way to see things and religion.

The land of Canaan was a land of plenty, where there were grapes and other fruits, olives and honey, hence it was seen by Abraham - from the region of present-day Iraq - as the "promised land" "where milk and honey flows".
