Answer:

Despite the lack of the Technology, life used to be better in the past.

Explanation:

Nowadays, we live in world ruled by technology, every year or every 6 months we hear of a new device that will come into the hands of people that are expectant to witness what new gadget will come out and people feel the urge of getting it willing to pay the cost no matter what. But, do these improvements and devices have truly improved the quality of life to a better point different from the past?

From a modern perspective it may have, communication and the way to transmit data has become faster than ever, and even though it is true, social communication has faced a deep crisis in all kind of populations; people are no longer able to talk to each other for long period of times and the use of social network for issues such as bullying have now escalated to a degree of now being called cyber-bullying and talks at home have just dissapeared while everyone is in front of a tv or a mobile.

In the past technology may not had had a huge impact on people's daily life making them feel the need of holding a device at all times but people used to share much more with each other. People in the past wouldn't care about taking pictures with fake filters just to show themselves a little more different or hide any defect people may find on themselves. No, in the past people truly accepted who they were and stood by it because they simple were true to themselves.

Today in the streets you see people isolated with their own headphones whereas in the past, all gather together to listen to stories or just to be the witness of someone singing and playing an instrument. Memories were kept in the mind and we could remember the moment and bring back the memory with such detail that it made the listener feel he was there in that moment as well. But now all we listen is what the portable radio, tv or mobile tell us.

In summary, technology is a tool that  has improved life in certain aspects but unfortunately in some other that could matter even more, it has turned us into slaves, stripping us from all social interactions that could have a real impact on social development and what is worse, this could end up being an even bigger issue if there is no guidance about how to use technology in a correct way that ensures a proper balance in life between innovation and lifestyle.

The statements that accurately describe the themes developed in “Rip Van Winkle" are;

  • A. Nature offers a temporary escape from the stresses in life.
  • C. For some, it is easier to avoid conflict than to resist it.

The two best answers that support the themes answered in Part A re;

  • “Rip had but one way of replying to all lectures of the kind, and that, by frequent use, had grown into a habit. He shrugged his shoulders, shook his head, cast up his eyes, but said nothing.”
  • “For some time Rip lay musing on this scene, evening was gradually advancing, the mountains began to throw their long blue shadows over the valleys, he saw that it would be dark long before he could reach the village, and he heaved a heavy sigh when he thought of encountering the terrors of Dame Van Winkle.”

Themes developed in the story, "Rip Van Winkle", include the importance of nature in offering a source of escape from the problems of life.

Rip Van Winkle regularly retreated to the mountains when he wanted to escape his wife's tantrums.

Rip Van Winkle also did not like conflict. Whenever his wife would bring some complaints to him, he simply shrugged and said nothing. This was his way of bypassing the conflict.

Summarily, the importance of nature as an escape from life stresses and the fact that some people do not like conflict are important themes illustrated in this text.
