Imagine you are a researcher with a pharmaceutical company who has just discovered a new drug that may potentially cure Ebola. C

ompose a three-paragraph memo to the chief executive officer of the company that addresses these aspects of the situation: Summarize the situation in West Africa, including the impact on the economies of the affected countries and the resources that are scarce. Discuss the resources you have used to discover the drug or will need to continue producing it. (Take an educated guess at what you will need for this part, just be sure to classify your needs into the proper factor of production.) Discuss the opportunity cost to the company in devoting more resources to the production and distribution of the new drug. Applying your knowledge of the factors of production and PPCs, explain the impact that your drug could have on the economies of countries in West Africa affected by the Ebola virus.

Answer:

Memo No. 010

New Guinea, August 1, 2020.

Subject: Treatment against Ebola.

From: Alice Creli

To: Roger Ross, Executive Director of Line Med.

Dear Mr Ross.

I am the director of a medical research laboratory in New Guinea. My team and I have devoted our research and resources to finding products that can decrease and control Ebola transmission and infection in West Africa, which consequently improves countless problems facing this region.

I believe that you already know how the transmission of this disease has caused great economic, social and structural wear and tear in the African territory and that although many economic and humanitarian resources have been spent to control this situation, the resources were not efficient, which shows the need for more research and planning, which became more difficult with the arrival of another disease.

In front of that, I would like to communicate that my team has been successful in developing a treatment that has been positive in establishing immunity (against the Ebola virus) in mice. We arrived at this treatment by doing research with DNA from nodulating bacteria and we got promising results, but they need to be tested in humans. We are an independent laboratory and we have few resources to start the second phase of tests and for this reason I write to you, asking for the generous participation of Line Med, in resources for the manufacture of the treatment, as well as help in the dissemination and search for volunteers. I believe that the treatment is promising and could bring many benefits.

Thank you for your time and I await your response.

Kind regards,

Alice Creli

.

When playing chess, is the King the most powerful piece? How does that relate to the feudal system in Medieval Europe?
7nadin3 [17]

Answer:

The king is not the most important piece because it is rarely used, like in the feudal system, where his knights and peasants do most of the work, like knights and pawns on a chess board.

Explanation:

All you need is some knowledge about chess, and feudalism.

In feudal Europe, the monarchy (mainly the king) gave out pieces of land to nobles and aristocrats and taxed them. They would then live in the land, and give it out to knights and peasants. The peasants would be taxed in money and crops in return for the housing and farmland. The knights would generally be given more land, but not by much, and they would protect the land they live on, and if called on by the king, would leave and protect the kingdom. The king got rich, while his pawns worked and died in his name.

How and why did the Civil Rights Movement shift, change, and evolve over time?
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

Overview

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the most comprehensive civil rights legislation ever enacted by Congress. It contained extensive measures to dismantle Jim Crow segregation and combat racial discrimination.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 removed barriers to black enfranchisement in the South, banning poll taxes, literacy tests, and other measures that effectively prevented African Americans from voting.

Segregationists attempted to prevent the implementation of federal civil rights legislation at the local level.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964

After years of activist lobbying in favor of comprehensive civil rights legislation, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was enacted in June 1964. Though President John F. Kennedy had sent the civil rights bill to Congress in 1963, before the March on Washington, the bill had stalled in the Judiciary Committee due to the dilatory tactics of Southern segregationist senators such as James Eastland, a Democrat from Mississippi. start superscript, 1, end superscript After the assassination of President Kennedy in November 1963, his successor, Lyndon Baines Johnson, gave top priority to the passage of the bill.
