The answer is D. This is because when people cheer and applaud for him it shows that he is likely to win or in other words is a strong candidate.

Personally, I disagree with that statement entirely. Just because the "truth hurts" does not mean you should go and tell others what you think they want to hear. It gives off a bad influence. There is no real communication without the truth. It will present you as a dishonest person and it affects whoever you tell. Its best to tell the truth, even if it hurts.
