Biology

Reducing sugar is any sugar (all monosaccharides, some disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides) that is capable of acting as a reducing agent because it contains free aldehyde group or free ketone group.

Aldehyde group or alkanal is an organic compound containing formyl group. The formyl group is a functional group consisting of a carbonyl center bonded to hydrogen and an R group. This group can be readily reduced to primary alcohol with the help of catalyctic hydrogenation either applied directly or by transfer hydrogenation.

Ketone group unlike aldehyde group does not have a hydrogen atome bonded to the carbonyl group but it can still be hydrogenated.

According to selye, some people may develop illnesses such as high blood pressure or a weakened immune system during the _______
Sever21 [200]
I believe the answer for the above question is exhaustion stage.
Hans selye, described three predictable stages the body uses to respond to stressors, called general adaptation syndrome (GAS). The first stage is alarm stage, which provides burst energy, then the resistance stage where the body attempts to resist or adapt to the stressor, and finally the exhaustion stage. During the resistance stage, the body uses its resources of flight off the stressor. It is not until the next stage, exhaustion, that bodily resources are so depleted that stress-related diseases can develop.
