He did that by making tax collectors permanent Government officials and paid them Regular Wages.

Before Augustus' new policy, tax collecting was being done by Publicanis ( in modern world, they would be some sort of public contractor). These Publicanis often give the Government a smaller tax payment than they actually collect. By cutting them off the system and paying the new collectors Regular wage, Augustus manage to prevent this occurrence from happening again<span />

It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world; so far, I mean, as we are now
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Right choice:

(3) Alliances could draw the United States into wars.

Explanation:

Since its inception, the American republic was wary of distant foreign entanglements, especially in Europe. That was the feeling of a majority in society in different times. Those attitudes changed in the 20th century, only after WWII. In the first decade of the American government of Washington, there were debates and the temptation to side with France or Britain in their contemporary wars. Washington decided to stay neutral because he knew the US was not strong enough to fight war.

Why did the colonist need money from the king if they had tobacco?
OverLord2011 [107]
Because growing tobacco also required a lot of hard work and labor, more people (human resources) were needed to work in the fields. ... It didn't take the colonists long to realize that economic specialization would be the way to go, and tobacco became a cash crop for the colony.
