Which of the following statements best expresses a reason for European imperialism in the 1800s?
sasho [114]

Answer:

B.

European nations wanted to control lands that had raw materials for industry and manufacturing.

Explanation:

In the wake of the industrial revolution, the international order changed. Nations needed raw materials and markets, and they needed to secure them before other nations did. That also shaped the form of imperialism used in the 1800s. Before, the European countries tried to settle in the conquered territories and work the land. But in 1800, nations established outposts and an extractive economy that sought to obtain the raw materials as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Nations also needed to control markets for their goods, which led to wars against large Empires like China, which was a huge potential market. The British set an example for other Nations by imposing trade treaties with the use of warships.

Under the social contract theory how do leaders gain the right to rule
jok3333 [9.3K]

By the consent of the people over whom they rule.

The "social contract" refers to an implicit agreement between a government and the citizens of the society overseen by that government. Philosophers of the Enlightenment era were famous for arguing the idea of a "social contract." According to this view, a government's power to govern comes from the consent of the people themselves -- those who are to be governed. This was a change from the previous ideas of "divine right monarchy" -- that a king ruled because God appointed him to be the ruler. One of the most influential of the social contract theorists was John Locke, who repudiated the views of divine right monarchy in his First Treatise on Civil Government. In his Second Treatise on Civil Government, Locke then argued for the rights of the people to create their own governments according to their own desires and for the sake of protecting and enhancing their own life, liberty, and property.

How did EIC alter mughal history
zysi [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

The EIC called them 'British naval power' and 'crown troops' stationed in India. With many military advantages on their side, EIC became a powerful player in the local polity as it was involved in local disputes. The Mughals, taking stock of the British fortifying Calcutta's Fort William, attacked them.

In 1772, under Warren Hastings, the East India Company took over revenue collection directly in the Bengal Presidency (then Bengal and Bihar), establishing a Board of Revenue with offices in Calcutta and Patna, and moving the pre-existing Mughal revenue records from Murshidabad to Calcutta.
