The north end of Earth's axis is tilted toward the sun from March 21 until
September 21 ... Spring and Summer in the northern hemisphere, which
includes North America.
In order for the Earth to get larger, more mass would have to be added. Since no new mass is added in the process, It's size doesn't increase.
