2) Louis Riel supported and wanted to help his people all he could. You could say that he died to protect them. He spent most of his life fighting for their rights. Forming the National Committee of the Metis (protecting their land), and forming the Metis Bill of Rights (protecting themselves).

3) Once the Government of Canada delayed the approval of the Bill of Rights, this is when Riel formed a provisional government.
