It was because, if we look solely at it's impact on today's world, it brought large numbers of black Africans to the Americas where they know number in the millions. So, instead of their being a relatively tiny number of black African descended people in this hemisphere - probably would be even less than the number of Arabs in this hemisphere otherwise - there are millions. In the long run, a huge win for the modern black in the Americas. ESPECIALLY the modern black in the US. Had their ancestors not been enslaved and brought here, they would be living in west Africa - a terrible place by any measure. Or, they would not exist as people because, having been brought here, they were able to expand their numbers IMMENSELY across these 2 continents, something west Africa would simply not have afforded them the luxury of doing. Not enough space or resources there. No one wants to hear it, but because of the awful things that happened to their ancestors, they are infinitely better off. As EVERY people suffered slavery, black Americans (I mean those in the USA here) benefitted the most, by far, of other previously
