Answer:

3. B. 128

4. B. 50.24

Step-by-step explanation:

3. The Books

The numbers of the problem make it quite easy.

We can easily figure out how many books will be stacked in each dimension of the trunk.

Length:

Books: 10 inches

Trunk: 40 iinches.

How may books can you fit lengthwise in the trunk?  40 / 10 = 4

We then to the same for the width:

Books: 6 inches

Trunk: 24 inches

How many books can you stack wide-wise in the trunk?  26/4 = 4

And then the height:

Books: 2.5 inches

Trunk: 20 inches

How many books stacked in height? 20 / 2.5 = 8

So, we can saw the trunk is 4 books long, by 4 books wide by 8 books thick... so, the number of books you can fit in that trunk is:

B = 4 * 4 * 8 = 128

4. Tomato juice

First, we have to find the volume of that big can...

Since it's a cylinder, its volume is calculated by:

V = π * r² * h and we have everything we need:

V = 3.14 * 4² * 12 = 192 * 3.14 = 602.88 cu in

We know a cup of tomato juice takes 12 cu inches...

So, how many cups of juice fit in that can?

C = 602.88 cu in / 12 cu in/cup = 50.24 cups

Jeff and Darius are trying to gain weight for the football team Jeff weighs 20 pounds and is gaining 10 pounds per month Darius
MakcuM [25]

Let x be the number of months

Jeff weighs 20 pounds and is gaining 10 pounds per month

In 1 month weight gained is 10 pounds

in x month weight , 10x

so Jeff will gain 10x + 20 pounds

Darius Waze 150 pounds and is gaining 4 pounds per month

In 1 month weight gained is 4 pounds

in x month weight , 4x

so Darius will gain 4x + 150 pounds in x months

Now we make the wights same and solve for x

 10x + 20= 4x + 150

Subtract 4x  and subtract 20 from both sides

 10x + 20 - 4x= 4x + 150- 20

6x = 130

Divide both sides by 6

x= 21.67

so it will take 21.67 months for Jeff two way the same as Darius

How many solutions does the equation have? a+5=1/5(5a+25)
Iteru [2.4K]
A + 5 = \frac{1}{5} (5a + 25)

First, simplify \frac{1}{5} (5a + 25) to \frac{5a+25}{5} / Your problem should look like: a + 5 =  \frac{5a+25}{5}
Second, multiply both sides by 5. / Your problem should look like: 5a + 25 = 5(a + 5)
Third, expand to get rid of parenthesis. / Your problem should look like: 5a + 25 = 5a + 25
Fourth, both sides are equal, resulting it having infinite solutions.

Answer: infinite solutions

Please help could you explain or show work so I will remember how to do problems like this?
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

x = -8

Step-by-step explanation:

4x - (x - 4) = - 20

Distribute the minus sign

4x - x +4 = -20

Combine like terms

3x+4 = -20

Subtract 4 from each side

3x+4-4 = -20-4

3x = -24

Divide by 3

3x/3 = -24/3

x = -8
