imagery: Visually descriptive or figurative language. This poem uses descriptive words that make the reader project scenarios in their minds that will possibly best fit each stanza.

Repetition: The action of repeating something that has already been said or written. Repetition is presented during this poem by constantly stating a possible characteristic individual may possess, followed by the numbers of people out of 1 hundred who do possess it. This literary device is utilized throughout each stanza of the poem.

Metaphor: A figure of speech containing an implied comparison, within which a word or phrase ordinarily and primarily used of 1 thing is applied to a unique. during this particular poem, a metaphor is utilized in stanzas 10 and 14 which may be explained within the third slide after this one.

A Contribution to Statistics indicates that each stanza of the poem relies on actual statistics. The author didn't compose numbers but went out of her due to surveying 100 people which is stated within the primary line, with differing types of questions supported human characteristics.

Even though most human emotions and actions are altered, the poem "A Contribution To Statistics" written by Szymborska suggests that the only real unchangeable human characteristic is mortality.

Rainsford's actions are justified because he will never truly be free until Zaroff is dead. A "beast at bay" refers to someone who is still being hunted. Rainsford will always feel hunted as long as Zaroff is alive, because he knows the 'hunt' will always go on in Zaroff's mind. He has to kill Zaroff so he doesn't have to live in fear.
