<h2>Greetings!</h2>

Answer:

75

Step by step explanation:

Let x be the value of the width, if the length is 3 times as big as the width, we can show this as 3x.

To find the perimiter and the value of x:

As it is a rectangle, two lines are parallel, so we need to multiply the length and width size to accomodate this:

2 * x = 2x

2 * 3= 6x

Add these two values together:

2x + 6x = 8x

8x is perimeter, so if 40 is the perimeter then:

8x = 40

Divide both sides by 8 to find 1x:

\frac{8x}{8} = \frac{40}{8}

x = 5

Area:

Now we have the value of x, we need to find the area. The area formula is as follows:

Length * Width = Area

So if the length = 3x = 3 * 5  = 15

And the width = x = 5

We can find the area as we have both values:

5 * 15 = 75

So the area is 75!

<h2>Hope this helps!</h2>
