If you’re talking about the United States, I would definitely say the Southern region especially the Southeast.
Elsewhere in the world, for example in Africa, the country of South Africa has been terrible to African Americans.

Toussaint Louverture led a successful slave revolt and emancipated the slaves in the French colony of Saint-Domingue (Haiti). A formidable military leader, he turned the colony into a country governed by former black slaves as a nominal French protectorate and made himself ruler of the entire island of Hispaniola.
In the 1830's, the voice of a young nationalist leader began to be heard. Giuseppe Mazzini founded Young Italy. It was a secret society that called for the unification of Italy under a representative government. Mazzini opposed dictators and tyrants and came to symbolize the soul of Italian unification.
