Early Mesoamerican civilizations such as the Aztecs in the Great City of Tenochtitlan, built large pyramids that served as a ceremonial centers for their tribal rites like men and women sacrifices to their gods. There were other civilizations like the Toltec, that had great pyramids and ceremonial centers like the religious center of Tula, in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. The Mayans are other example of ancient tribes that built pyramids.
