The two major approaches to editing are temporal and spatial editing.

Explanation:

Temporal editing involves an editing technique that involves modifying a draft, usually shrinking the content that would fit in to the expected time slot. For example, any scripts that is to be utilized in a TV or a radio show.  

“Temporal” as the name implies, it refers to time and “spatial” refers to space. A draft which can be altered to fix into the specific space provided and the best example for it is the advertisement texts that is given in the newspapers which needs to be printed only in the specific space.
