To do this, you must first find an attention getter that connects with your thesis statement.

For example:

"Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor! This means war!". A famous headline that showed up on the days ahead of the Attack on Pearl Harbor in December 7th, 1941. With this sneak attack, the war took a turn, as the US joined the Allies side. But how did this even occur? What was the purpose behind it?

Bring it in make sure you get your hook out there example do you like cats well this essay is about if cats are better is mind than dogs *cough, not really , cough* make sure you use words like well, then, however. and your sure to get a pretty good transition. Also, make sure it runs smoothly.
