One reason why the U.S. government thought it was necessary to place Japanese Americans in internment camp because they figured they were from Japanese descent, so they would aid the enemy in their efforts. I can't really think or find any other reasons but this for the imprisonment. This was not justified because it was deemed unconstitutional after the fact because it was targeting a specific group of people.
