FINALLY, consider the question, “To what extent are the Six Big Ideas of the Constitution still relevant today?”
KatRina [158]

Answer:

The six big ideas are:

Limited government. - is still relevant because a too powerful government can be a threat to the people, as it has been seen in history many times.

Republicanism - is still relevant because the United States is a republic, where government is a public matter, and is obliged to respond to the people. The people also have the right to change and remove the government if they feel it is not working for the common benefit.

Checks and balances - is still relevant. The three branches of government: the executive (president), legislative (congress), and judicial (the courts including the Supreme Court) all have checks and balances. Each branch checks the power of the other two, and this prevents any of the three from becoming too powerful.

Federalism - The U.S. is a federal republic, therefore, it is still relevant. This is why the federal government only has those powers explicetly given to it by the constitution, while everything else is left up to the states.

Separation of powers - Is still relevant and related to the principle of checks and balances. The U.S. is a republic where government has three separated powers or branches, the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary.

Popular sovereignty - is still relevant. In a republic, the people are the ones who really control the government, who elect the government, and who can remove and change the government. This is popular sovereignty.

Think about the debate, and evaluate which claims were most clearly supported by reasons and evidence. Be sure to consider which
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

To support any claim, we need evidence that is in favor. And they are the arguments and explanations that best supports the claim. And those which does not supports the claim, leave the claim uncertain. And different debates will have a different list of evidence and reasons which support, and also a list that does not support the claim. Hence, first find the issue, which is the claim, and then find out what supports and what does not support the claim. And then you can put your words forward. That is the correct way to participate in a healthy debate. Remember, you should either support the claim, or you should be against the claim. And you will have to stick to it till the very end, supporting it with your thoughts and evidence that you can collect while preparing for the debate. The better you prepare, the healthier it is going to be the debate. And you should never be 50-50. You should either agree or disagree. Like if you are debating on climate change, you can either support it or not support it. The bushfire in Australia is a fact that supports, and you can pick it up if you are supporting, and economic loss is a fact that does not support it. You can pick that fact if you do not support it. The point is, you should put forward strong facts, And that makes a debate healthier.
