Which of these equations, when solved, gives a different value of x than the other three? 9.1 = -0.2x + 10 10 = 9.1 + 0.2x 10 –

0.2x = 9.1 9.1 – 10 = 0.2x To prepare for his mountain biking trip, Rhyan bought four tire patches. Rhyan paid using a gift card that had $22.20 on it. After the sale, Rhyan's gift card had $1.90 remaining. Which equations could you use to find the price of one tire patch? Select all that apply. 4x – 1.9 = 22.2 4x – 22.2 = 1.9 4x + 1.9 = 22.2 4x + 22.2 = –1.9 22.2 – 4x = 1.9

Given:

Different equations are given.

Rhyan paid using a gift card that had $22.20 on it. After the sale, Rhyan's gift card had $1.90 remaining.

To find:

The equation which gives a different value of x than the other three.

To find the equations that could you use to find the price of one tire patch.

Solution:

In option A,

9.1 = -0.2x + 10

0.2x= 10-9.1

0.2x= 0.9

Divide both sides by 0.2.

x=\dfrac{0.9}{0.2}

x=4.5

Similarly,

In option B,

10 = 9.1 + 0.2x

0.9= 0.2x

4.5=x

In option C,

10-0.2x = 9.1

-0.2x = -0.9

x = 4.5

In option D,

9.1 – 10 = 0.2x

-0.9 = 0.2x

-4.5 = x

Since option D has difference solution, therefore the correct option is D.

Let price of one tire patch be x.

So, price of 4 tire patches = 4x

Remaining amount in Rhyan's gift card = $1.90

Total amount = $22.20

Price of 4 tire patches + Remaining amount in gift card = Total amount

4x+1.9=22.2

It can be written as

4x-22.2=-1.9,1.9=22.2-4x,22.2-4x=1.9

Therefore, the correct options are C and E.

A plane increases its cruising speed from 400mph to 550mph. Work out the percentage speed increase.
Harlamova29_29 [7]
Well, it went from 400 to 550, so the difference is 150.

if we take 400 to be the 100%, what is 150 off of it in percentage?

\bf \begin{array}{ccll}
amount&\%\\
\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}&\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}\\
400&100\\
150&p
\end{array}\implies \cfrac{400}{150}=\cfrac{100}{p}\implies p=\cfrac{150\cdot 100}{400}
