Read the excerpt from "Homesick Blues." You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl

." That’s what my grandpa said to me before I left the farm to start my brilliant career in the city. I hugged him and reassured him that I would try not to get too big for my britches—another of his favorite sayings—because I thought that was what he meant. I knew he had some level of disdain for city dwellers that went back to his days in the army. According to Grandpa, he could always pick out the city boy from a group of farm boys because the city boy would be the one in the way while the farm boys did the work. Which statement best describes the narrator's grandfather?
He has a strong work ethic.
He dreams of living in the city.
He is lazier than other people.
He is meaner than other people.

Answer:

The best option is letter A) He has a strong work ethic.

Explanation:

From this excerpt of "Homesick Blues" we may reach a few conclusions about the narrator's grandfather. He is a very straightforward man whose values are deeply rooted. He clearly has a strong work ethic as we could expect from a person who was once part of the Army and who lives on a farm. He probably understands that obligations should come first, always. From his despise of city people, we can tell he believes them to be lazy and unskilled while farm people are hard-workers:

<em>"According to Grandpa, he could always pick out the city boy from a group of farm boys because the city boy would be the one in the way while the farm boys did the work."</em>
