Many computer chips are manufactured from silicon, which occurs in nature as SiO2. When SiO2 is heated to melting, it reacts wit

h solid carbon to form liquid silicon and carbon monoxide gas. In an industrial preparation of silicon, 155.4 kg of SiO2 is allowed to react with 77.4 kg of carbon to produce 66.2 kg of silicon.a. What is the theoretical yield for the reaction in Kg Si?
b. What is the percent yield for the reaction?

Answer:

Theoretical yield for Si = 2586.55*28.09= 72.7 Kg

Percentage yield is =2356.71/2586.55=91.11%

Explanation:

So the chemical equation for this reaction would be SiO2 + 2C = Si + CO

so n(SiO2)=m(SiO2)/M(SiO2)=155400/60.08=2586.55 mol

n(C)=m(C)/M(C)=77400/12.01=6444.63 mol

So Carbon is in exes.

n(Si)=m(Si)/M(Si)=66200/28.09= 2356.71 mol

Theoretical yield for Si = 2586.55*28.09= 72.7 Kg

Percentage yield is =2356.71/2586.55=91.11%

ATP is a source of free energy that drives unfavorable reactions. Which of the processes are coupled to the dephosphorylation of
EleoNora [17]

Answer:

The correct statements are a denovo anabolism of nucleotides d myosin action during muscle contraction e membrane transport that maintain levels in the cell.

Explanation:

ATP or adenosine tri phosphate is an high energy compound. The hydrolysis of ATP helps to drive many thermo dynamically unfavorable reaction. The processes which are coupled to the de phosphorylation of ATP are given below.

1 De novo synthesis of nucleotides that requires energy in form of ATP.

2 During muscle contraction the sliding of thick filaments or myosin over thin filament or actin requires energy derived from the hydrolysis of ATP.

3  Membrane transport basically active transport helps in the uphill transport of ions that requires free energy in form of ATP.

Which bonds are formed when elements share electrons and form molecules?.
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

A covalent bond

Explanation:

the atoms bond by sharing electrons. Covalent bonds usually occur between nonmetals. For example, in water (H2O) each hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O) share a pair of electrons to make a molecule of two hydrogen atoms single bonded to a single oxygen atom.
