When a person is born they get one chromosome from the mom and one from the dad. A female has XX chromosomes a male has XY Cromosomes. So a male would get the Y from the dad and the X from the mom.

The Southern Oscillation is in a negative phase when pressures are: Group of answer choices low in both Tahiti and Darwin equal
MArishka [77]

The Southern Oscillation is in a negative phase when pressures are higher in Darwin than in Tahiti.

The Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) is a standardized index that is derived from the observed changes in sea level pressure (SLP) between Tahiti and Darwin, Australia. This index is used to predict future weather patterns. During El Nio and La Nia events, the SOI is one measurement of the large-scale fluctuations in air pressure that occur between the eastern and western tropical Pacific. These changes can be attributed to the Southern Oscillation. In general, when time series of the SOI are smoothed, a very good correlation with variations is seen in the temperatures of the oceans throughout the eastern tropical Pacific. The negative phase of the SOI indicates that the air pressure in Tahiti is lower than normal while the air pressure in Darwin is higher than normal. Extended periods of negative Southern oscillation index values coincide with ocean temperatures over the eastern tropical Pacific that are abnormally warm (cold), which is typical of El Nio (La Nia) events.

In a protein molecule, the number of amino acid molecules may be as few as _____. 5 500 50 5,000
densk [106]

The correct answer is 50.

Proteins are complex biomolecules made out of amino-acids bound together with peptide bonds. They can be comprised out of thousands of several polypeptide chains with thousands of amino-acids organised in complex structures. But, some of them can contain only around 50 amino-acid and still posses all of the complex traits of an protein.

Some polypeptides contain only 3 amino-acids, but technically they are not classified as proteins due to a big functional and structural differences between a simple polypeptide chain and a protein. Proteins are made out polypeptide chains, but this is only the primary structure of an protein. the polypeptide chains in a protein are organized into complex 3D structures that give them novel traits and complexity as compared to plain polypeptide chains.

The diagram to the right represents the lytic
What is occurring at step c
lilavasa [31]

Complete question:

The diagram to the right represents the lytic cycle. What is occurring at step C?

 1. The pieces made in replication are assembled to complete the new virus particles.
 2. The virus attaches to the host cell.
 3. The host's DNA is disassembled and the virus takes over the cell's metabolic activity.
 4. The new viral nucleic acid and viral proteins are replicated.
 5. Lysis occurs, killing the cell.

Answer:

4. The new viral nucleic acid and viral proteins are replicated

Explanation:

During the lytic cycle, a host cell is infected by a virus. The infected cell dies by lysis of the cell membrane while the new copies of the virus are being released. The lytic cycle is the principal viral reproductive method and involves the destruction of the infected cells.

The lytic cycle is composed of five steps:

Attachment phase:

Viruses recognize specific receptors in the membrane of the host cells, where they get attached. These receptors are glycoproteins or lipoproteins that join viral elements and hold them on the host surface.

Penetration phase:

Viruses use different mechanisms to penetrate the host cells.

 • By injection, by perforating the host cell wall and membrane and injecting the genetic material through a hole. The rest of the virus remains outside the cell.
 • By endocytosis. The virus introduces by complete into the host cell by endocytosis of the membrane. Once inside, the virus breaks the vesicle membrane and gets in contact with the cytoplasm.
 • By fusing with the membrane
 • By going through the pores

Biosynthesis phase (replication and synthesis of the viral components)

There are no viral copies yet, but DNA, RNA, and proteins are being produced.

The host cell metabolism is used to synthesize viral elements. Viral nucleic acid uses the host cell nucleotides and RNA polymerase to synthesize mRNA and produce proteins and enzymes to destroy the infected cell DNA.

The viral nucleic acid duplicates and new proteins are produced.

Maturation phase

In this stage occurs the Assembling of the newly synthesized viral components. Many viral copies are formed.

Lysis phase

This is the moment in which the new viral copies get released. They break the host cell membrane by lysis through the action of the endolysin enzyme. Lysis produces the host cell death.

In the exposed diagram you can recognize

A) Attachment phase and penetration by injection phase

B) Biosynthesis phase → destruction of the host DNI. The host cell metabolism is used to synthesize viral elements

C) Biosynthesis phase → Viral components (nucleic acid + proteins) are already replicated.

D) Maturation and Lysis phase

E) Infection of a new host cell by attaching to its membrane
