2. An investment company pays 9% compounded semiannually. You want to have $8,000 in the future. How much should you deposit now
prisoha [69]

Answer:

$5151.42

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula you need is

A(t)=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^{(n)(t)}

where A(t) is the amount after the compounding, P is the initial investment, r is the interest rate in decimal form, n is the number of compoundings per year, and t is time in years. The info we have is

A(t) = 8000

P = ?

r = .09

t = 5

Filling in we have

8000=P(1+\frac{.09}{2})^{(2)(5)}

Simplifying a bit and we have8000=P(1+.045)^{10}

Now we will add inside the parenthesis and raise 1.045 to the 10th power to get

8000 = P(1.552969422)

Divide away the 155... on both sides to solve for P.

P = $5151.42

The Total Surface Area for the shape below is _________. (round to nearest tenth.)
gavmur [86]

Answer:

=193.2 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Figure out the triangles first
  • Area= Base times Height divided by 2
  • first figure out one triangle A= (6)(5.2)/2 = 15.6 (brackets means times and the slash means divide
  • times it by 2 so you get the area of both triangles (15.6)(2)= 31.2
  • Now figure out the rectangles
  • Area= Base times Height
  • A=(6)(9) = 54
  • Then times it by 3 to get the area of all three triangles
  • (54)(3)= 162
  • Now add 162 and 31.2 and you get 193.2 cm

Landen spent L hours at the beach last weekend. Matéo spent 15% fewer hours at the beach than Landen did.
andre [41]

Answer:

L(1-0.15)

L-(15/100)L

Step-by-step explanation:

we  know that

100%-15%=85%

85%=85/100=0.85

so

The number of hours that Mateo spent at the beach last week is equal to the hours that landen spent at the beach (L) multiplied by 0.85

The linear equation that represent this situation is

0.85L

Equivalent expressions are

1) L(1-0.15)

Because

Applying distributive property

L(1-0.15)=L-0.15L

Combine like terms

L-0.15L=0.85L

2) L-(15/100)L

because

15/100=0.15

substitute

L-(15/100)L=L-(0.15)L=0.85L

Choose what the expressions below best represent within the context of the word problem. If Sarah is 24 years younger than her m
KIM [24]
Hello Kiddo.

This question is a bit confusing to me, but I think I grasped the concept.
1. x best represents Sarah's mom's age.
2. x - 24 best represents Sarah's mom's age minus how much younger Sarah is than her mom.
3. The expression would look a little like this:
2x-24 = 68
    + 24  +24
2x = 92
/2     /2
x = 46.

Which means, Sarah is 22 and her mom is 46 years of age.
If you need more clarification, I'd be more than happy to elaborate further.
