In this speech, Churchill had to describe a major military disaster and warn of a possible invasion attempt by the Nazis, without questioning the eventual victory. He also wished to reiterate a policy and an unchanged objective - despite the intermediate events - of his speech on May 13, in which he had declared the goal of "victory, no matter how long and difficult the road".
The priesthood is one of the three holy orders of the Catholic Church, comprising the ordained priests or presbyters. The other two orders are the bishops and the deacons. Church doctrine also sometimes refers to all baptised Catholics as the "common priesthood".[1][2]
