Nelson Mandela is regarded as An African hero, because he fought for South Africa's freedom from Apartheid which separated races and created hate he wanted a nonracial democracy, and F.W Deklerk became the president of South Africa and Mandela became deputy president of The ANC(African National Congress) and together they negotiated and help end Apartheid
