In linguistics, the Syntax refers to the general rules and principles that are unique in each language and determine the way phrases or sentences are created. Because of this, the syntax determines the type of words or elements that need to be included and the organization of these, for example in the English language most sentences follow a subject-verb-object organization. This concept differs from semantics because semantics focuses on the meaning of language rather than the structure and it differs from the lexicon because this refers to the words of a language. Therefore, it is syntax the one that provides general principles for organizing words into meaningful sentences.
Syntax is the part of grammar that studies the arrangement of words in a sentence and that of sentences in speech, as well as the logical relationship of sentences to each other. By issuing a verbal message, the sender seeks to convey a complete and understandable meaning. For this, the words are related and combined with each other. Syntax is an essential tool for satisfactorily handling the multiple possibilities that exist for combining words and sentences.
