How does a change in medium affect light?

A change in medium affects light in that light must travel through something, and therefore can be bent and refracted just like a tangible object depending on the medium. An example would be when light enters the water of a pool, which gives the bent, "glistening" effect that we see.

The separation of powers was put into place so the federal government are kept distinct in order to prevent abuse of any power.
