According to the Robert Plutchik’s work, the emotion of contempt is produced by the combination of DISGUST and ANGER.

Contempt refers to the emotional feeling where one thinks that, he is worthless and this feeling often occurs when he suffers from, both disgust and anger at the same time due to the following reasons.

Disgust refers to the feeling where one feels a strong sense of disapproval, mostly due to an unpleasant happening or situation. Anger is often an emotional outcome which most often accompanies disgust and this anger can either be over oneself or over someone else, not just the feeling of anger and disgust looks alike, even they occur simultaneously.

Hence, Robert in his works conclude that, Contempt is the emotional outcome of Disgust and Anger.
