It was deeply involved due to Cuba being around 90 miles off of the coast of Florida, if nukes were on the island, the range could reach almost all of Mainland America. Also, President Kennedy of the USA had told Premier Khrushchev that Soviet nukes are not allowed on the Island of Cuba.
