Read the excerpt from "Opening Ceremonies of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge" by Hon. Seth Low, Mayor of the City of Brooklyn.

The importance of this Bridge in its far-reaching effects at once entices and baffles the imagination. At either end of the Bridge lies a great city—cities full of vigorous life. The activities and the energies of each flow over into the other. The electric current has conveyed unchecked between the two the interchanging thoughts, but the rapid river has ever bidden halt to the foot of man. It is as though the population of these cities had been brought down to the river-side, year after year, there to be taught patience; and as though, in this Bridge, after these many years, patience had had her perfect work. What is the purpose of the subjective language in this excerpt?

Answer: The importance of this Bridge in its far-reaching effects at once entices and baffles the imagination. At either end of the Bridge lies a great city – cities full of vigorous life. The ardent merchant, the busy lawyer, the impatient traveler – all, without distinction and without exception – at the river have been told to wait. No one can compute the loss of time ensuing daily from delays at the ferries to the multitudes crossing the stream. And time is not only money – it is opportunity. Brooklyn becomes available, henceforth, as a place of residence to thousands, to whom the ability to reach their places of business without interruption from fog and ice is of paramount importance. To all Brooklyn's present citizens a distinct boon is given.

3. How does the president limit the legislative powers of congress?
kogti [31]

Correct answer choice for question 3 is :

D) By using the veto

Explanation:

When the president determines to deny a bill, the Congress can vote on it again. If two-thirds of the Congress vote in support of the proposal, they revoke the veto. The bill becomes a law. The legislative department can evaluate rules made by Congress and signed by the president. The president's powers are restricted in the method of limits and stability. As the head of the governing department, the president assures the implementation of the regulations in our country.

Correct answer choice for question 4 is :

A) He appoints all federal judges

Explanation:

Constitutionally, the President of the USA may not restrict the authority of the judiciary section. The Constitution is the base for all American laws, and the US Supreme Court is the final authority on what is or is not legal. The only authority the President has on the Supreme Court is the capability to elect judges to that court, with Congressional support. Which means the prevailing authority and the Conservative Congress will be struggling for a moderate judge whose version of the law is more to their desire.

____________________________________________________________

Correct answer choice for question 5 is :

B) Commutation

Explanation:

The president's power to replace a condemned person's decision to make the penalty less severe is called Commutation. Presidents have restricted the ability to act unilaterally or make management judgments on their own. Presidents have used official orders as a way of performing important plans unilaterally. Using an event-count review, the incidence of administrative orders changes with substantive reforms in the president's legislative situation.

The poster shows how propaganda supported the war effort at home.
ddd [48]

Answer:

Women are being encouraged to work on the home front during the war.

Women can select jobs that correspond to their interests or skills.

Jobs related to wartime industries have the greatest need for workers.

Jobs in industry, agriculture, and business are specifically in need of workers.

Explanation:

These four sentences are correct and do reflect the idea of the propaganda:

Women are being encouraged to work on the home front during the war. <em>(definitely because of a</em><em> woman on the picture</em><em>)</em>

Women can select jobs that correspond to their interests or skills.<em>  (based on the quote - "</em><em>I've found the job where I fit best</em><em>")</em>

Jobs related to wartime industries have the greatest need for workers.  <em>(based on the mention "</em><em>Find your war job</em><em>")</em>

Jobs in industry, agriculture, and business are specifically in need of workers. <em>(</em><em>these areas are explicitly listed at the bottom</em><em>)</em>

However, the following is not:

Women’s right to work in these industries will be supported after the war. <em>(No such mention and looking back in time we also know it wasn't the case)</em>
