Simon Bolivar led the movement to strive for independence for countries like Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, and Peru from the Spanish colonies.

Simon bolivar was influenced by enlightenment ideas regarding Political Freedom.

His real name was Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Palacios Ponte y Blanco but commonly known as Simon Bolivar.

He was a military and political leader in Venezuela and to this day he is colloquially called the El Libertador, or the Liberator.

Being born into a influential aristocratic family, he went to Europe for his  education, as was common among the wealthy of his time.

There, he began to get influenced by the growing Englightenment movement that was sweeping all over Europe. Mostly, the Political Freedom, Freedom of Speech and the Freedom to democratic affairs.

Eventually, when he came back to South America, he successful fough against Spanish rule.
