The cause of the Boston Tea Party was that the colonists didn't want to pay the large tax on the tea. The effect of that was the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped all of the tea that was on all three ships that had brought the tea to them into the sea. That is why it is called the Boston Tea Party too. Hope that helps a little bit.
