Leto [7]

Fixed mindset and Growth mindset.

‘Fixed mindset’ as the name suggests is a state where a person believes that his abilities are fixed traits and which be changed. ‘Growth mindset’ on the other hand is a state where a person believes that his abilities can be changed and amplified through hard work and commitment.

Consider the following demonstration: since childhood I had a fixed mindset that I won’t ever be able to speak in front of a group of people because of my fear of public speaking. Because of this, I avoided speaking in elocution competitions despite being good at writing.

Now consider the next stage when my fixed mindset traits changed: After years of struggle and realization, it hit me that anybody can speak if one is confident enough. This stage of my life was called growth mindset when I even started taking parts in elocution competitions and even won the first prize in almost all the competitions.

You see, when fixed mindset of ‘I can’t do this’ changes to a growth mindset of ‘everything is possible’ great things begin to happen.

hram777 [196]

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is about the personal development and growth of Pip, an orphan. Another character in the book who have entered popular culture is Miss Havisham.
The clocks that are stopped at 8:40 in Miss Havisham's house represent A. the death of her dreams when she found out her fiancé was leaving her at the altar. In pursuit of her to “freeze time,” she stopped all the clocks at 8.40 because her groom left her leaving a note which she received at 8.40. It symbolizes her hope and resentments wherein not only the time remains the same but the jewelry, wedding clothes and wedding feast were laying at the same place.

Read the passage from Animal Farm.
Gnoma [55]

Answer:

The false confessions extracted from the four pigs.

The slaughter of the pigs by the dogs at Napoleon's order.

Explanation:

The Great Purge was an event in the history of the Russian government during 1936-38. During this period, the Russian dictator Joseph Stalin ordered those 'traitors' of his government to be on trial and even killed. The period was strife with ethnic cleansing, 'removing' dissenting people, murders, trials known and unknown, etc.

Similar to Stalin's rule, Napoleon also carried out trials and killings as he deems fit. He would order his dogs to 'execute' his order, which can be seen in the given excerpt when the four pigs were killed by the dogs. Not only that, extracting false 'declarations/confessions' from the pigs which is the cause of their 'execution' was also a similar element to that of Stalin's "Great Purge".

Thus, the correct answers are the second and fourth options.

IrinaVladis [17]
Since this drawing is his way of reminding her that she and their garden are "as safe as a missel thrush", it makes her one of the many creatures whose secrets he keeps faithfully. So, having that in mind, I would say the correct answer is A) his trustworthiness.

What determines the tone when writing ?
alexira [117]
The tone would be determined by the kind of people the author is writing for. A story for children is going to have a different tone than a graduate thesis even if they are on the same topic.

Hope that helps.
