Answer:

c) search operators

Explanation:

Words or symbols that help you narrow down your search are called search operators. This ultimately implies that, search operators are commands and special characters (words or symbols) which help users to filter and refine their search engine results by making the search more precise and specific in nature. Thus, search operators only provide search engine results that are relevant to what a user is searching for or it narrow down the focus of a search.

Hence, search operators comprises of commands and special characters (words or symbols) such as AND, OR, NOT, "", -, +, *, .., :, etc used for narrowing down search engine results.

For instance, typing "file.mp3" in a search engine would only present results that are in mp3 formats.

Using the program below, explain what the output will be at LINE A. 1 #include 2#include 3#include 4 5 int value - 128; 6 7 int
slega [8]

Answer:

This is the complete correct program:

#include <stdio.h>

#include<sys/types.h>

#include<unistd.h>

int value = 128;

int main()

{

  pid_t pid;

  pid=fork();

  if (pid==0) /* child process */

  {

  value +=8;

  return 0; }

  else if (pid > 0) {/* parent process */

 wait (NULL);

 printf ("PARENT: value =%d\n" ,value); /* LINEA */

 return 0;

}

}

The output of the LINE A is:

PARENT: value = 128

Explanation:

The fork() function used in the program creates a new process and this process is the child process. The child process is same as the original process having its own address space or memory.

In the child process the value of pid is 0. So the if condition checks if pid==0. Then the child process adds 8 to the value of its variable according to the following statement

value +=8;

Now the original process has value = 128. In else if part the parents process has the value of pid greater than zero and this portion of the program is of the parent process :

else if (pid > 0)

{ wait (NULL);

printf ("PARENT: value =%d\n" ,value);

return 0; }

So the value 128 is printed at the end in the output.

wait(NULL) is used to wait for the child process to terminate so the parent process waits untill child process completes.

So the conclusion is that even if the value of the variable pid is changed in the child process but it will not affect the value in the variable of the parent process.

is the correct answer.

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

<h2>The fall of the Berlin Wall and the emergence of a way to find things on the Web through the Netscape browser were two that was browser were two events that flattened the world. A third platform was needed to change the world and that was a way for software to communicate and become interactive.</h2><h2 />

This question belongs to the advent of software and technology that has made world a global village. The factors that played important roles are Fall of Berlin wall and Netscape browser.

The third thing the added to connectivity among people is the production of softwares like Skype and other social applications that made it easier for people to interact with other and communicate faster.

Write the half function. A function call and the functionprototype
EastWind [94]

Answer:

C code for half()

#include<stdio.h>

void half(float *pv);

int main()

{

float value=5.0;  //value is initialized

printf ("Value before half: %4.1f\n", value); // Prints 5.0

half(&value);  // the function call takes the address of the variable.

printf("Value after half: %4.1f\n", value); // Prints 2.5

}

void half(float *pv) //In function definition pointer pv will hold the address of variable passed.

{

*pv=*pv/2;  //pointer value is accessed through * operator.

}

  • This method is called call-by-reference method.
  • Here when we call a function, we pass the address of the variable instead of passing the value of the variable.
  • The address of “value” is passed from the “half” function within main(), then in called “half” function we store the address in float pointer ‘pv.’ Now inside the half(),  we can manipulate the value pointed by pointer ‘pv’. That will reflect in the main().
  • Inside half() we write *pv=*pv/2, which means the value of variable pointed by ‘pv’ will be the half of its value, so after returning from half function value of variable “value” inside main will be 2.5.

Output:

Output is given as image.
