If you have just eaten a large meal, it is likely that your liver is actively monitoring the amount of glucose and glycogen in the body and helping to turn on or off the hunger. The liver regulates the blood glucose by storing and producing sugar when necessary. During a meal, the liver will store sugar, or glucose, in form of glycogen for a later time when it is required in the body. The high levels of insulin and decreased levels of glucagon during a meal promotes the storage of glucose as glycogen.
