English King Edward III army attacks King Philip VI forces at the Battle of Crecy.

English longbows were effectiveness, which could be reloaded faster and fire long distances, and deadly compare to the Genoese crossbows. Nearly a third of French army killed, which included thousands of soldiers, knights and esquires. Charles II of Alencon and his associates Louis II of Nevers and King John of Bohemia died in the war.

The battle saw the decline of knights in warfare, which led to the rise of England in Europe. From Crecy, Edward III marched to Calais, which taken by him in 1347.
