There were 2 reasons why he sent soldiers to Lexington.

  1. He heard that Patriots were collecting weapons to use in a rebellion. Thomas Gage sent soldiers to concord to gather weapons (which is where the weapons were suppose to be).
  2. Thomas Gage thought he would capture a few patriot leaders on the way. He heard Samuel Adams and John Hancock were hiding away in the concord.
