Answer

Find out the At how many hours of work will the total cost be the same for both families .

To prove

Let us assume that the number of hours at which the total cost be the same for both families be x .

As given

Smith's family contractor charges $16.50 per hour plus $289 in supplies .

Jackson's family contractor charges $18.75 per hour and  $274.60 in supplies.

Than the equation becomes

16.50x + 289 = 18.75x + 274.60

16.50x -  18.75x = 274.60 - 289

-2.25x = -14.4

x =\frac{14.4}{2.25}

x = 6.4 hours

Therefore in 6.4 hours of work will the total cost be the same for both families .

The ratio of the number of A's in the class to B's in the class was 2:5. How many people got A's if there were 40 people who got
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

16 students got an A

Step-by-step explanation:

Set up an equation to compare the ratio to the scores:

\frac{2}{5} = \frac{x}{40}

Cross multiply:

80 = 5x

Divide each side by 5:

x = 16

Now, check if \frac{16}{40} = \frac{2}{5}

16/8 = 2

40/8 = 5

The ratios are the same! Therefore, 16 students got an A!

Hope this helps! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions :)

Shelly is trying to improve her running time for a track race she ran the first race in 43.13 seconds her time was 43.1 seconds
lesantik [10]
I we consider her running times as an arithmetic series with common difference:
43.13 - 43.1 = -.03/2 = -.015, Shelly's time in the fourth race will be 43.1 - .015 = 43.085.
